Style: Progressive Psychedelic Tech Trance

Cymatics, also known as modal phenomena, is the study of visible sound and vibration, typically on the surface of a plate, diaphragm, or membrane. Directly visualizing vibrations involves using sound to excite media often in the form of particles, pastes, and liquids.

This is the theory behind Cymatics, Roon's widely popular cult side project which flows into the lush spiritual world of psychedelic progressive tech trance. Open your third eye and get lost in the sound. With roots and cultural elements from our past, we create our phuture. Staying true to his roots, Roon's selection is firmly planted in the tech side of minimal progressive trance.

ROON:

Style: Techno, Haus

Shrouded by a circle of mystery and he likes to keep it that way, Roon is the mind behind erge PROXY and Ritual Records. Rarely seen as he is almost certainly in his studio, he lives and breathes to make people move, and connect. After hearing a House song called Burning by MK back in 1991, Roon instantly fell in love and began his journey into sound culture. It was only natural that he began experimenting with DJing and sound design/audio engineering in 1994, he would spend endless days at Steve's Music Store collecting pamphlets, buying records from Play D or reading Future Music mags and mixing at home, his hunger for this knowledge was intense, his original starting kit consisted of a pair 0f 1200 turn tables, a Rane mixer and a Atari ST running Cubase which was driving a Roland DJ-70 and a Roland JX-3P which were plugged into a Mackie 1202 mixer. Not a bad starting kit. But it was earned through hard work and dedication to music. Forever plugging away and never able to turn away from this interest, Roon now works out of his studio, Black Sun. Located near downtown Toronto, feverishly preparing on his upcoming label - Ritual Records. Roon is also heavy into the open source Linux movement, but his main workstation is based on OS X.

His DJ career started in 1995 when he began playing Detroit Techno and German Tech House at local Toronto raves and events under the alias of Robi Motorz and a tag team effort with J-Sun called: Chasm. Throughout the years, and loving to hear an instrument pushed to the limits, he progressed into the harder sounds of Hardcore/Rotterdam and Hardcore Techno under the guises of Thairem Hardwire and Miscreant. And began to work closely with Toronto Promoters like Next Junction, Sourkee and Embryon. He began working full time with Embryon in 2002, promoting, planning and pushing the sounds. But his love for pure machine language has brought him back into the Techno and Progressive spectrum, Though no longer working with Embryon or playing Hardcore, Roon is known to bring a harder and darker edge to his music while still staying in the realm of techno. Roon runs an online archive of DJs and net labels called erge PROXY

MonoKraK records is now a net label oriented around ambient and deep minimal techno. Founded in 2006 by Roberto Vitali and based in Geneva (Switzerland), the first goal was to be a quality vinyl label of electronic music.
